Using a combination of ash, rift red oak, mahogany and other woods, these pieces incorporate attention-getting curves. You're unlikely to find anything like this on a showroom floor. It's very cool to see what customers do with our hardwood. Enjoy.

Incredible 2" thick x 54" wide Bubinga Slab

It's likely that we will live out the remainder of our lives without seeing another slab cut as unique as this one.

Specie is bubinga
Board is figured curly and live sawn
Thickness = 8/4"
Width = 48" and 54" (2 bookmatched slabs)
Length = 20'
Kiln dried 6-8%, any slabs I've seen of this size are air-dried, if that.

Price = $29.99/BF (there's about 180BF in each slab)

If Caligula were alive today, these slabs would be on his bartop.

Spalted Beech Flooring

Fantastic Alder Carving

One of our clients made these custom alder pieces for an automobile aficionado. The carving was done by hand. The cars are very cool but don't overlook the surrounding basket-weave.

Simulated Reclaimed Flooring

The idea of installing a reclaimed floor appeals to many people, especially those who want something unique in their home. However, limited your options to reclaimed product may present other challenges. What if you cannot find the right style? One solution is to create the look and feel of a reclaimed floor using new materials.

This swatch was created to capture the look of a reclaimed floor. The 6" face plank flooring is rough-sawn and finished with a light tung oil to give it an aged appearance. Slight variations in the planks add to the charm which cannot be fully appreciated in a 2-dimensional photo.

A simulated reclaimed floor like this can be created for almost 1/2 the cost of an actual reclaimed floor of this caliber. It's a great option if you want reclaimed for cosmetic rather than philosophical reasons.

Custom Grade of Cherry Flooring

On this project, we worked with our client to develop a cherry flooring to meet the following criteria: length range of 2-14' with a 10' average, natural cherry color (heart, sap, light gum OK), no open defects larger than a 1/2", all at a relatively low pricepoint. Rustic but clean, if that makes sense. An off-the-rack rustic grade would not be long enough and would include too many larger defects for what their client wanted in their home.

The hardest part of this project was getting long length materials with the right kind of defects and coloration. A 14' long plank is very likely to have an open defect in it that would require us to either trim it out and get short lengths or leave it in which would miss the grade spec. We were able to source material out of Michigan that allowed us to produce the floor with a longer length spec than our client originally requested. Underpromised & overdelivered!

Custom Made Solid Walnut Chair

This chair was crafted by an Atlas client using our walnut lumber. Other than a small patch of sapwood in the middle of the chairback, the chair is almost exclusively made from heartwood walnut.

Walnut can vary in color from region to region. Walnut logs harvested from the mid-west tend to have a more consistently dark heartwood than those of other regions. This stock was selected for its heavy heart content and mild sapwood which does not detract from the look of the piece.
